 Great Stone Top

View of Great Stone Top

Great Stone Top viewed from the opposite side of Sharks Valley. The summit of Great Stone Top is 494 m (1620 ft.) above sea level and the sea cliffs here are the highest on St. Helena.

Great Stone Top is formed by a thick trachyte flow which is above flows of the Upper Shield which in turn are above a very thick sequence of basalt flows of the Main Shield. An intrusive mass of trachyte which can be seen in the sea cliffs was the feeder for the Great Stone Top flow.
