 Jamestown

View of Jamestown

Jamestown viewed from the Side Path road.

Ladder Hill Road, which leads to Half Tree Hollow and Plantation House, snakes its way up the other side of the valley.

Main Street, Jamestown

Main Street, Jamestown.

The Post Office is to the far left and Wellington House is the taller blue building.

Lower Jamestown

The lowermost part of Jamestown viewed from the coastal path to Rupert's and Banks.

Jacob's Ladder ascends the far side of Ladder Hill to Signal House.

Looking down the Ladder

Looking down the Ladder from the top step! Constructed in 1829 and rebuilt in 1871, the Ladder has 699 (or 700?) steps, a length of 924 feet, ascends a vertical height of 602 feet, and in places is as steep as 45 degrees.

The Castle, the Public Gardens, and St. James Church are well seen from this spectacular vantage point.
